Which Foods Cause Cancer?

Did you Know That? Some our Favorite Foods Cause Cancer
1. Hot Dogs - The Cancer Prevention Coalition advises that children eat no more than 12 hot dogs a  month, because they are high in nitrates. Buy those made without sodium nitrate.

2. Processed meats and Bacon - Also high in the same sodium nitrates found in hot dogs, bacon, and other processed meats raise the risk of heart disease. The saturated fat in bacon also contributes to cancer.

3. Doughnuts - High in fat and hydrogenated oils

4. French Fries - They contain cancer- causing acrylamides

August is named after Augustus, the first emperor of the Roman Empire. Typically, the hottest days of the year occur in August.  The flowers for the month of August are the poppy and the gladiolus.


On August 1st:
  • In America, the first cable streetcar  began running on Clay Street Hill in San Francisco, CA.
  • The 38th state, Colorado, entered the United States on August 1st. It  entered the union 100 years after the Declaration of Independence was signed. Therefore, Colorado is called the "Centennial State".  
  • MTV (Music Television) debuted at 12:01 a.m.
